New Edition of Scoring and Arranging for Brass Band

The new 3rd edition of Scoring and Arranging for Brass Band by Andrew Duncan is now available. The original book was written in 2005 and the new edition has been comprehensively edited and adapted to be more user friendly and it also includes coloured images.

This new edition has a greatly expanded section showing the progression of an arrangement of the hymn Aurelia. Firstly, there is a step-by-step guide which shows those new to arranging for brass band how to make a simple four-part arrangement of the hymn.

There is a new chapter which details how to progress the arrangement to an advanced transcription arrangement, by adding percussion, counterpoint and other details.

A second additional chapter explains how the hymn can be arranged as an entirely new composition arrangement with each compositional device shown and discussed.

Each of the Aurelia arrangements also have sound files on YouTube, with links and QR codes to these provided in the new book.

An extra chapter on Colour and Contrast in Brass Band Scoring has also been added and there is updated information on the copyright law and how to get your music published.

The book has expanded from the original 125 pages to 170 pages in the 3rd edition.
