Established in 2018 in our home city of Glasgow, Duncan Music Press is a specialized music publishing house dedicated to the brass community. We began as a platform to distribute the compositions and arrangements of renowned composer Andrew Duncan and have since grown into a global provider of high-quality sheet music and educational resources.

Our Purpose

Our purpose is to empower brass musicians of all levels—from beginners to advanced professionals—by providing them with world-class repertoire and innovative learning tools. We strive to:

  • Support Musical Education: By developing and publishing study books and tutor series that are recognized by major international examining boards.

  • Foster Creative Growth: Through our iWrite for Brass arranging modules, we offer online educational opportunities for aspiring arrangers to hone their craft regardless of their location.

  • Ensure Global Accessibility: By offering both traditional hard copies and PDF digital downloads, we ensure that our music reaches performers and educators in every corner of the globe.

Meet Andrew Duncan

Our founder’s deep-rooted passion for brass music started with the Whitburn Brass Band when he was just a boy. Today, he channels four decades of experience—as a professional tuba player, composer, arranger, and conductor—into creating something truly meaningful for the community. Having taught brass at every level, he remains as dedicated to the craft as the day he first picked up an instrument.

What Sets Duncan Music Press Apart

The rare combination of high-level professional performance, world-class arranging expertise, and a deep commitment to brass education.

People-First Approach

Everything we do is built around understanding your needs and helping you succeed—because when you thrive, so do we.

Syllabus-Approved Excellence

Unlike many independent publishers, our educational titles—such as our 25 Progressive Studies series for new brass players is written to develop both the technical and the musical skills of new brass players with essential elements of both musical notation and musical theory explained and integrated into the studies. These books are recognized by the ABRSM and Trinity College London examining boards and are on the syllabuses.

Award-Winning Arrangements

Our brass band music and wind band music catalogue is anchored by the work of Andrew Duncan, a six-time winner of the best arrangement at the prestigious Brass in Concert championships.

A Masterclass in Every book

Our resources go beyond just notes on a page. Our new edition of Scoring and Arranging for Brass Band includes QR codes and YouTube links to sound files, providing an interactive learning experience directly from the text.

Long-Term Relationships

We’re not just here for the now. We love creating lasting relationships with our clients and growing with them over time.

Global Accessibility

From our base in Glasgow, we provide both traditional high-quality printed scores (sent via Royal mail tracked in UK, Europe and International) and instant PDF downloads of many of our study books, supporting the brass community worldwide with no geographical barriers.

The innovative Beginner’s Brass World

A series by E.P. Stewart is innovative because it serves as a "one-stop" solution for new players from lesson 1 to Grade1 with 16 progressive studies.

One Book for All: A single Treble Clef or Bass Clef edition works for every brass instrument in Bb, Eb, and F, eliminating the need for separate books.

Multi-Sensory Resources: The series integrates music theory flashcards and specialized lessons on rhythm and mouthpiece buzzing to reinforce learning through play.

Adaptive "Three-Way" Duets: Each study includes an optional part that functions as a teacher-student duet, an alternative solo for "higher buzzers," or a tool to extend range to a full octave.

Instant Digital Backing: Each of the 16 studies features a QR code for immediate access to professional backing tracks, making practice at home both easy and engaging.

The Sing Buzz Blow Play book by Mark Reynolds

Describes how, by applying the four concepts of Singing, Buzzing, Blowing and Playing, you will be able to approach many of the musical and technical issues you may have, in an efficient, relaxed and concentrated manner.
